What is Kripalu Yoga?

Kripalu yoga is a practice of compassionate non-judgmental self observation. Externally it can look like anything from gentle stretching to advanced power yoga, and everything in between.

The invitation is to use the practice as a way of becoming more present and sensitive to your body’s individual messages and needs. It encourages you to meet yourself exactly where you are and to customize the experience so that it feels good for you in that very moment. The natural result of this is to gain increased strength and flexibility of both body and mind.

The asanas (postures) and focus of each class can widely vary, but the essential message of compassion, self acceptance and love remains at the core.

Private Personalized Yoga

Private sessions are individually crafted to meet any student exactly where they are and to progress towards their unique goals. Ilana draws from her extensive knowledge of the body and over 12 years of teaching customized classes to offer an experience of being truly seen and supported.

Private sessions can be a way to create a custom home practice and to empower you with the self knowledge to take group classes with confidence.

*These classes are In-Person at Mighty yoga (downtown Ithaca), as well as Virtual on Zoom, and includes a Later Play option where you will be sent the recording of the class to practice with up to 24 hours after the live class.

Mighty Flow
            Explore both the invigorating and surrendering aspects of yoga, blended into an eclectic and powerful flow. Coordinating breath with movement to build strength, open and release tight areas, and develop sensitivity your body's unique needs, so you can face the day from a place of balance, presence and empowerment. Variations are offered to meet all levels. Vinyasa classes at Mighty Yoga Ithaca are heated to 85 degrees.

Mindful Flow
A smoothly-paced class which fosters a calm mind and deep body awareness. Classes will include an emphasis on breath and self discovery, so you can fine tune your practice to meet you where you are. Modifications and variations will be offered throughout the class, making these classes accessible for students of all levels. This class is accessible for beginners, and adds a new layer of challenge for more experienced yogis to dig into your practice - with a greater focus on alignment, breath, engagement, and expansion in each pose. You will leave feeling energized, restored and grounded.
